Competitions

 

Throughout the year the Society holds a number of competitions that all members are entitled to enter

News for each competition including rules and deadlines will be posted in the Competition section of the homepage.

Walker Trophy (Projected)

A series of three projected image competitions where points are awarded for winning and placed entries with a cup being presented to the member with the highest total of points gained during the year.

 

Walker Trophy (Prints)

A series of three printed image competitions where points are awarded for winning and placed entries with a cup being presented to the member with the highest total of points gained during the year.

 

Goddard Memorial Trophy

The Goddard is a panel of 4 linked prints (print, maximum mount size 20”x16” or 500mmx400mm) with a theme or link between the images in monochrome or colour.

 

Centenary Trophy

This is an Audio Visual competition where a series of images are set to a soundtrack.  The AVs are voted on by the club members on the night.

 

Albert Bale Memorial Trophy

This is a Portrait competition for prints (maximum mount size 20” x 16” or 50 cm x 40 cm). Members can enter one print which must be a human portrait and can be either colour or black & white.

 

Annual Exhibition

In October each year the Society hold an annual exhibition lasting 6 days.  Typically over 300 prints and projected images will be on display.  Each member of the society is allowed to submit 6 prints and 6 digital images (for projection) into competition.  Members of the society are grouped into 3 categories – A, B, & C.  In each category there is a class winner with other images being awarded Certificates of Merits and Highly Commended awards.

 

Derek Meredith Progress Cup

This is awarded at the Annual Exhibition to the individaul who has made the most photographic progress in the year.

 

George Kent Trophy

Awarded during the Annual Exhibition for the Best Colour Print in show.
