On Monday 30th March we’ll be welcoming Colin Brister to the club to give us his talk about Motocross (MX) photography.
Colin is a full time professional photographer and has been involved in the sport for over ten years, along with his son, both as a rider and a racer as well as a photographer. Once his knees gave way he switched from bike to camera.
Both John Cross and I (Phil Atkinson) have both attended one of his training days which was an experience and a half – One of my lenses still has mud on it! A memorable technique of Colin is to stand in the middle of the track with a wide angled lens and riders zooming towards him.
Don’t worry if motocross isn’t your thing, Colin will be engaging and informative and have some interesting stories. He will be bringing along some of his home made contraptions that he uses for off-camera flash – techniques that can benefit many of us in a wide variety of genres.
It’s sure to be an entertaining evening, so please try to make it.

On Monday 16th March we’ll be welcoming Margret Preece ARPS DPAGB to the club.
Margret is a member of Chichester Camera Club, so large and popular that there’s a year-long waiting list of for new members, and she’ll be giving us a talk based on photographic trips to Iceland and Ethiopia.
Of course we’re all used to extremes of temperature in the Greenleaf Baptist Hall, so this’ll be right up our street.
Margaret is the mother of club member Caroline – let’s see how their images compare…..
On Monday 9th March we’ll be welcoming Harry Tsappas to the club. Harry is a local photographer specialising in travel, panoramas and still life photography, and runs photo workshops, at home and abroad, particularly Greece.
He’ll be giving us his talk A Greek Odyssey, based on a trip to northern Greece a couple of years ago to Lake Prespa, Meteora Monasteries and Lake Kerkini, the premier birding destination in southern Europe.
He’ll run through some of his techniques, including the use of filters and different lenses.
Following on from our success last week in a projected competition against Chingford Photographic Society we have another competition this coming Monday – the Basildon Trophy.
We welcome;
