On Monday 9th February we will be joined at the camera club by Chris Shepherd, with Looking Local.
Chris reckons photographers often suffer from ‘location myopia’, wishing we were in some exotic location with the best possible equipment.
In this talk he details his fight with location myopia and shows us how he overcame it on his way to becoming a top landscape photographer, using examples of photos taken around the Essex coastline, the Roding Valley and our own Epping Forest.
Glowing testimonials on Chris’s website from other local clubs who’ve heard him speak mean we should be in for a treat.
The first competition of the year is Round 1 of the Walker Trophy (Projected).
This is the first of 3 rounds and will then be followed by the Walker Trophy for Prints which is also over 3 rounds.
Both Walker competitions are open competitions where the subject matter is up to you.
Details of how to enter this round of the competition can be found HERE.
By default all entries will be shown on this website (max width 800px). Should you not wish your images to appear please use the contact box to let us know.
The rules for the Walker competitions can be found HERE.
In particular I would like people to refer to the following paragraph;
Projected images and prints awarded a ‘place’ in any monthly competition cannot be entered in further monthly competitions. However, any entry not gaining a ‘place’ in a monthly competition may be entered in ONE further monthly competition.
So, across the six competitions any one image can only be shown a maximum of 2 times, or only once if it is placed or wins. Historically this hasn’t been enforced but it will be in 2015 in the interests of fresh material being shown.

On Monday 24th November we welcome Colin Southgate FRPS to the club to give us his popular talk – The Picture Wot I Took.
Don’t be fooled by the somewhat modest-sounding title of this talk; the images speak for themselves. Colin’s love of black and white photography, fine art and graphics can be seen in a lot of his work. Find out more on his website:
