Summer Photography Course – 2014

Summer Photography Course – 2014

The Summer Photography Course is rapidly approaching – this year it starts on the 30th June 2014.

Full details can be found at http://wdps.org/summer-photography-course-walthamstow-2014/

This year we will be using Eventbrite to both collect payments and manage the attendee list.

The Summer Course is incredibly important to the Society from a financial point of view and we ask all members to share the above page on Facebook, Twitter and any other social network or forum you may be a member of.

On most pages of this site there are sharing buttons to make this easier.

Unseen Waltham Forest

Unseen Waltham Forest

It’s started!  Over 40 prints plus digital images.

Our exhibition at the Vestry House Museum runs until the 18th May 2014 and entry is free.

Discover unseen, or unnoticed, aspects of Waltham Forest as recorded by the Walthamstow and District Photographic Society.

Think hidden locations, quirky viewpoints, interesting details and alternative takes on the familiar.

The Society brings together photographers with a wide range of interests; from natural history to portraiture, macro, abstracts, landscape and black and white work, all of which reflects and documents the Borough.”

Vestry House Exhibition

Vestry House Exhibition

As you know, Andy has secured us an exhibition at the Vestry House Museum, Vestry Road, from 15th March to 18th May 2014.  This is a great opportunity for members to show work, both printed and projected.

The theme by popular consent will be Unseen Waltham Forest. We will aim to uncover and explore aspects of Waltham Forest whether unseen, or unnoticed, by the public. Hidden or unusual locations, quirky viewpoints, interesting details, an alternative take on the familiar – whatever suggests itself.

The deadline for submissions will be 24th February next year.
Work can be black and white or colour, and the standard size print will be 20×16″ or 500x400mm; mounts can be black or white.  You can submit up to 3 prints.  Ian will be offering the usual printing and mounting service, and will give further details at any meeting, including how to submit images for projections.
This is also an opportunity to sell work, details to follow. On the 16th December we will take the opportunity to brainstorm this theme.  Come along with suggestions no matter how strange or bizarre they are.

As this is a major exhibition we can reach out to people and organisations for photographic opportunities, so if you would like us to write to someone let us know who.
